Reservation reality
Direct tent reservations for opening Saturday are effectively gone by April. Resale via Munich-tour packagers exists at 2–3× face value. Default plan: queue at 08:30 for Hofbräu / Hacker / Augustiner free seating, hold the table all day.

A group of 12 American men will not get into Berghain. Period. Split into pairs, arrive 30 min apart, between 02:00–05:00. No phones in line. No logos. No smiling. No loud English. Black-on-black. If turned away, walk away — do not argue. Tresor and ://about blank are easier doors and still the real thing.
Cologne · how Kölsch works
A 200ml glass. The Köbes (waiter, professionally rude) replaces it without asking, marking a tally on your coaster. To stop: place the coaster on top of the glass. To continue: drink. Crawl: Früh am Dom → Päffgen → Gaffel → Sion. Cash only at most.
Munich · biergärten
Augustiner-Keller (5,000 seats, last wood-keg pour in the city) on the Wednesday night before Wiesn. Chinesischer Turm (Englischer Garten, 7,000 seats) for the Friday warm-up. Bring your own food in the self-serve section. Arrive before 15:00 for a table on a warm September day.

Slotted into the Munich days. Neuschwanstein needs pre-booking; Zugspitze rides along on the same run south.
Neuschwanstein
The fairy-tale castle. Pre-book timed entry 8 weeks out (slots gate everything). Walk up to the Marienbrücke first for the photo, then enter.
Zugspitze
Germany’s highest peak (2,962 m), and it sits right on the way south to Neuschwanstein — pair them in one day. Cog railway + cable car from the Eibsee. Clear days only.
Lake Constance
Germany’s largest lake, where DE · AT · CH meet. Lindau’s island harbour, Meersburg, and Mainau flower island by ferry.

Partnach Gorge
A 700 m chasm carved through the Reintal at Garmisch — sheer walls, waterfalls, walkways bolted to the cliff. Sits beside Zugspitze if that day runs long. ~€7 entry.

The Schwarzwaldhochstraße driving road. Switchbacks · timber forest · Mummelsee. Better than the Alps for tarmac.
Salzburg
Cross to Austria for Mozart and the Festung. Easy half-day. Vignette required at the border (€9.90).
