Pay for the class, get whatever's free that day. Sixt+ lets you book a category instead of a model — same daily rate, but the desk hands you whatever performance car is on the lot. Sometimes you score a 911 instead of an M3. Sometimes you get the M3 you would've picked anyway.
Cheaper than the named tier · same garage. Hertz occasionally lists "Dream Car · TBD" at 15–20% off the named-model rate. You don't pick — you find out at pickup. Limited to Munich and Berlin-Adlershof depots.
Tier guarantee, model surprise. Broker-tier mystery: name a power floor (550 hp / 600 hp / 700 hp) and they assign whatever halo car is between trips. Could be RS6, M5 CS, AMG GT 4-door — you find out 24h before pickup.
- One-way drops require return location confirmation at booking — call to confirm Munich Hbf vs MUC.
- German manual stick is default; specify automatic at booking or you will get a manual.
- International Driving Permit required by every German rental counter. AAA does it in person, $20.
- Toll-road pass not needed (Germany is free) — Austria + Switzerland charge vignettes if you cross.
- Premium fuel only on every car at Tier 2+ — Super 95 minimum, Super Plus 98 preferred.
- Drop fuel at full or eat €4/L charges. Aral / Shell on Munich approach.
Best one-way German fleet. Sixt+ subscription unlocks the M5 Touring and 911 GTS class. Direct booking beats aggregator pricing 80% of the time.
Lower entry pricing on Tier 1. Less generous one-way. Hertz Dream Cars sometimes lists 911 Munich-only — useless to us going Munich-end.
